Stay Aware of Help for Money Troubles

Salford, United Kingdom, May 18, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Responding to new research from Scottish Widows which claimed that people in the UK are "feeling financially insecure," Debt Advisers Direct said that people should be aware that help is available for those struggling with their finances.

Scottish Widows' Priorities of Life Index found that although the UK has come out of recession, many people are still feeling financially insecure due to a "lack of time and money to focus on their financial futures."

36% of respondents to the survey said they are not prioritising their financial security enough, even though 24% say they "are more afraid of neglecting their financial security than anything else in their life."

Meanwhile, over a fifth (22%) of people said they have too much personal debt to feel secure.

An expert at Debt Advisers Direct commented:

"Although the economy appears to be recovering well from the recession, many people are still worried about their finances. As much as anything, the recession has encouraged people to think more about their money.

"The most important thing is that people are aware of the help available for money worries. There is plenty of free financial advice available, and it's important that people take advantage of this.

"The right course of action will depend on their circumstances. For example, some people might find they benefit from help with budgeting, while people with several debts might find a debt consolidation loan can make managing those debts easier - although this should only be considered by people who aren't struggling with their repayments.

"There is a wealth of free help and advice out there, and we urge anyone concerned about their finances - especially those in debt - to seek advice as soon as they can."
