Panduit Collaborates with IBM on a Redpaper to Deploy Fiber Channel Over Ethernet (FCoE) Environments

Tinley Park, IL, May 23, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Panduit, a global developer and provider of Unified Physical Infrastructuresm (UPI) solutions, announces the release of an IBM Redpaper titled “Planning for Converged Fabrics - The next step in data center evolution,” which will introduce its audience to the concepts of converged fabrics and their implementation using the emerging Fiber Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) technology. Developed collaboratively by Panduit and IBM experts, this Redpaper outlines the techniques to demonstrate proper deployment, as well as an efficient management, of FCoE in any type of environment - from small-scale lab infrastructures to large-scale data center environments with hundreds of servers and storage. This Redpaper also defines how products from IBM and IBM business partners, such as Panduit, facilitate the physical deployment of FCoE products and enable the efficient management of FCoE infrastructures.

With best-in-class physical infrastructure solutions, Panduit provides the broadest offering of end-to-end High Speed Data Transport Solutions (HSDT) that enable InfiniBand, 40/100 Gig, FCoE cabling. Panduit’s HSDT offerings include 10Gig™ SFP+ Direct Attach Passive Copper Cable Assemblies, QuickNet™ Pre-Terminated Cable Assemblies, and more. These HSDT solutions are integrated with Panduit cabinet systems, thermal management systems, and physical infrastructure management software as part of Panduit’s holistic UPI approach to optimizing power, cooling, space, speed and performance in the data center.

“As compute, networking, and storage infrastructures have grown, so too have the complexity and costs of procurement, deployment, and management of these infrastructures,” say Jack Tison, Panduit’s Chief Technology Officer. “As a result, there is now much more attention on server virtualization and infrastructure consolidation. That is why we are excited to be part of this IBM Redpaper that will help customers to better plan their own technology convergence and transition to an FCoE based infrastructure for greater efficiency and flexibility.”
