Internet, E-commerce and Copyright Law Expert Joins MediaMiser Ltd. Advisory Board

Ottawa, Canada, November 30, 2006 --(PR.com)-- One of Canada’s leading experts in Internet, e-commerce and copyright law, Dr. Michael Geist, has joined MediaMiser Ltd.’s board of advisors. Dr. Geist is the Canada Research Chair of Internet and E-commerce Law at the University of Ottawa. He also writes a weekly newspaper column called Law Bytes, and hosts a widely read blog.

“We’re extremely pleased to have one of Canada’s most influential and respected law professors on our board of advisors,” says Chris Morrison, vice president of client services and co-founder of MediaMiser. “Dr. Geist offers much more than his visionary guidance on legal issues involving web-based technologies—he is also very much an entrepreneur who understands what it takes for a company to break through and make itself heard.”

As a member of MediaMiser’s advisory board, Dr. Geist will offer insight on the ever-changing Internet legal landscape. In addition, as a prominent blogger, journalist and news aficionado, Dr. Geist is very in tune with MediaMiser’s desire to build leading news aggregation and media analysis solutions.

“I was immediately impressed with MediaMiser’s unique technology and how its software solutions could intuitively analyze the news, all in real-time,” says Dr. Michael Geist. “I’m looking forward to working with this innovative company as it manoeuvres through the often confusing and changing rules related to technology and the Internet.”

Dr. Michael Geist has written numerous academic articles and government reports, and appears regularly as a columnist on technology law for newspapers around the world. He has been recognized with several important awards and grants and a major research grant from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada for work on Internet jurisdiction and copyright law. His full biography can be found on his website at www.michaelgeist.ca.
