Lennar Announces Winner of SCAD Video Contest

Homebuilder Awards One Lucky SCAD Student $10,000 and Donates $5,000 to SCAD University

Charlotte, NC, June 03, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Lennar, one of the nation’s largest homebuilders, recently teamed up with the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) for its first video contest.

The assignment given to SCAD film students was to submit a 30-second video telling the homebuilder “why it’s cool to own your own Lennar home.” The homebuilder provided no creative restrictions leaving the field wide open for artistic expression.

Lennar received a total of 15 video entries from SCAD film students.

SCAD graduate student Ramondo Robinson was announced as the overall winner at SCAD Film and Television Department’s SCADemy awards held in Savannah last week. Lennar’s Southeast Regional President Sam Sparks and Vice President of Sales and Marketing Andrea Berenfeld presented Robinson with a $10,000 check and provided a $5,000 donation check to SCAD University at the event.

Robinson’s winning contest video entry titled “Just Cooler” depicts a Lennar home as a perfect way to spend your bonus check. The video highlights several of the outstanding features included in Lennar homes such as stainless steel appliances, PowerSmartSM energy efficiency and great square footages all for one standard price.

The entry will be a boost to the Southeast regions viral efforts and will be put on an array of Lennar social media sites, including Lennar’s YouTube page and could also run as part of an upcoming Lennar television commercial.

“We are truly amazed at the outstanding creative entries we received from SCAD students,” said Andrea Berenfeld, Regional Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Lennar’s Southeast Region. “The entries were all clever and very professionally executed. The final decision was a difficult one to make.”

Lennar plans to partner on similar contests with other universities and film programs across the country.

“This was a creative way for us to get feedback from our actual Gen Y and Gen X homebuyers versus conducting traditional research,” said Andrea Berenfeld. “This is an excellent opportunity for Lennar to give back and contribute to the continued growth of artistic communities across the country.”
