Alabama-Based Blueprints360 Documents Gulf Oil Spill with 360-Degree Spherical Video

Blueprints360, a division of Integrated Electronic Technologies, Inc. in Mobile, Ala., is creating a Web-based interactive 360ยบ video documentary of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill that has affected the Gulf Coast's way of life.

Grand Isle, LA, June 05, 2010 --(PR.com)-- It's day 44 of the worst environmental disaster in U.S. history, and the Blueprints360 team is hard at work, uniquely documenting the Deepwater Horizon oil spill that has affected the Gulf Coast's beaches, wetlands, wildlife and residents.

A division of Integrated Electronic Technologies, Inc. in Mobile, Ala., Blueprints360 is producing a Web-based interactive 360-degree video tour of the Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida coastlines as a public service documentary. Privately funded by their parent company, the documentary's main objective is to help others understand the impact this catastrophe could have on coastal residents and provide a visual reference for cleanup efforts during the recovery process. The unique video footage covers every possible angle, putting the viewer right in the middle of the crisis along the Gulf Coast.

This interactive video utilizes technology similar to Google Maps' Street View capability; however, Blueprints360 specializes in providing GPS-encoded interactive video maps, site plans and blueprints for commercial, industrial and government facilities, as well as ships and oil platforms worldwide. While filming, the exact GPS coordinates, date and time are encoded within each video frame. Video can be captured inside or outside a facility and merged with a blueprint to create an interactive virtual tour of a particular facility, ship or oil platform. Located on a secure, password-protected server, this “video blueprint” can then be viewed by authorized personnel from anywhere in the world using an Internet connection. While government and industrial projects are its core business, future plans for Blueprints360 also include providing virtual tours for museums, art galleries, zoos, parks, entertainment venues and other public places.

Blueprints360, which also calls the Gulf Coast “home,” will soon release preliminary video footage of the coastal areas affected by the Deepwater Horizon oil spill on its website, www.blueprints360.com.
