AAIHR Releases Position Statement on WHO Global Code of Practice on International Recruitment of Health Personnel

The American Association of International Healthcare Recruitment (AAIHR) recognizes and commends the significant work of the World Health Organization in the development of the WHO Global Code of Practice on the International Recruitment of Health Personnel.

Franklin, TN, June 05, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The American Association of International Healthcare Recruitment (AAIHR) recognizes and commends the significant work of the World Health Organization in the development of the WHO Global Code of Practice on International Recruitment of Health Personnel. They note the congruency in guiding principles of the WHO Global Code and the AAIHR Code of Ethics and Professional Practice with a heavy emphasis on ethical, transparent and responsible recruitment practices.

Although the WHO Global Code addresses member states, AAIHR takes the lead in the private sector encouraging sustainable and socially responsible recruitment through the voluntary adoption of “Best Practices.”

AAIHR’s commitment to this issue is demonstrated in many ways, including:

a) Assuming a leadership role in the healthcare industry through the development of the first association Code of Ethics and Professional Practices and International Healthcare Recruitment Best Practices.
b) Encouraging business models of member organizations that demonstrate a high level of corporate social responsibility.
c) Advocating for immigration legislation that supports workforce planning and sustainability through the creation of a domestic nursing enhancement account and that allows for circular migration to share multicultural practice experiences with source countries.

The AAIHR, as a stakeholder group, will look for opportunities to provide input on research and data collection work of the WHO.
