T-Post Driver’s Success Formula: Door Design Enables More Driving Force, Increased Safety

Hermosa Iron Works, Inc., has introduced a square-bodied T-Post driver with operating door, 44” length, and 44 lb. weight. That’s a 60% increase in length and weight over conventional manual post drivers.

Durango, CO, June 10, 2010 --(PR.com)-- With safety in mind, Hermosa Iron Works, Inc., has introduced a square-bodied steel T-Post driver with a single-sided door and a longer than conventional length. Increased length and weight deliver increased driving force, and prevent accidental push-off on the upstroke. The side door enables a safe and easy lateral dismount. The concept of the tool was borne out of a request by a safety official employed by British Petroleum. His request was for the steel fabricator (HIW,Inc) to design and manufacture a safer and better tool to manually drive steel posts, with the emphasis on safety. After several prototypes and field trials a finished design was perfected, at a length of 44" and weight of 44 pounds, with an operational door. The door enables utilizing the extraordinarily long length of 44" inasmuch that when the operator is ready to dismount the tool, he opens the door, and only has to make a vertical lift of 10" for the tool to clear the post and be dismounted. The tool’s weight is substantially heavier than conventional tools, giving the SafeTDriver significantly more driving force, thereby reducing operator exertion and fatigue, which contributes to less risk of injury.
