Simon Gealy, Partner, Capital Markets Group, PricewaterhouseCoopers to Speak at KCís Event on IFRS 9 Financial Instruments Explained on 12/2/10


New York, NY, June 12, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The Knowledge Group/The Knowledge Congress Live Webcast Series, the leading producer of regulatory focused webcasts, has announced today that Simon Gealy, Partner, Capital Markets Group, PricewaterhouseCoopers, will speak at the Knowledge Congress’ upcoming webcast entitled: “IFRS 9 Financial Instruments Explained LIVE Webcast”. This 2-hour event is scheduled for December 2, 2010, Thursday, at 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM EDT. Event Synopsis:

IFRS 9 Financial Instruments will replace IAS 39 Financial Instruments: Recognition and Measurement. This Standard will be completed in three phases:

1. Classification and measurement of financial assets (IFRS 9 issued in November 2009)
2. Impairment methodology for financial assets (exposure draft issued in November 2009)
3. Hedge accounting (development stage)

The Knowledge Group is assembling a panel of key thought leaders and experts to help the attendees get a sense of what these important developments have to offer for their business. Joining this webcast will allow the registrants to assist their clients better.

Simon is a Partner of PwC Capital Markets Group currently based in London and leads PwC's GAAP conversion practice globally, working exclusively on large scale Accounting Change implementation projects since 1997. Simon is a regular speaker on matters arising from IFRS implementation for Banks and addressed the subject of "IFRS; What does it means for Banks in Japan" at the 20th Special Seminar on International Finance hosted by The Japan Financial News in November 2009 in Tokyo. Simon is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales and holds a degree in Economics from University College London. Simon is a member of the PwC Steering Committee for IFRS in the United States and has recently been advising clients in Canada, Japan and Nigeria on the upcoming adoption of IFRS in those countries.
