Charlotte, NC, June 16, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Piedmont Plastic Surgery and Dermatology, the only practice in the Carolinas combining the expertise of plastic surgery and dermatology in one office, was proud to be a bronze level, or Birdie sponsor, and participant in the Harris Teeter Celebrity Golf Tournament benefitting the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). The event, held June 7th at TPC Piper Glen in Charlotte, raised $67,500 for diabetes research.

Piedmont Plastic Surgery and Dermatology dermatologist, Tonya McLeod, M.D., served on the golf tournament committee and volunteered at the event, while doctors Alan Klein, Gregory Mantooth and Gregory Swank participated in the golf tournament, which paired each foursome with a local celebrity.

Juvenile diabetes, which affects more than 24 million Americans, currently has no cure. The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation JDRF is the leading charitable financial supporter and advocate of type 1 (juvenile) diabetes research worldwide. The mission of JDRF is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research. This year’s Celebrity Golf Tournament was chaired by John Fox, head coach of the Carolina Panthers.
