The National Palooza Comes to Frenchtown, NJ on July 3rd

The National Hotel in Frenchtown, NJ will celebrate its 160th anniversary by hosting an all-day live music festival, The National Palooza, on Saturday, July 3rd, concluding with Dancing-Under-the-Stars.

Frenchtown, NJ, June 16, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Celebrating its 160th anniversary, The National Hotel will host a live music festival, The National Palooza, on July 3rd, from noon to midnight. The festivities will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony in honor of its “official” grand opening under Pete and Marie D’Costa’s ownership, and will be quickly followed by numerous live performances, music, dancing, and food. A portion of the proceeds will go to benefit the Frenchtown Police Department and its “National Night Out.”

The National Palooza will feature bands and acoustic musicians immediately following the commemoration of the building and ribbon-cutting ceremony, and will include Chuck Schaeffer and the Chuck Wagon (www.chuckschaeffer.com), Top Soil (http://www.myspace.com/topsoilpunks), Rainbow Fresh (http://www.myspace.com/rainbowfresh), among other local bands, that are sure to entertain and bring people out to the dance floor.

The D’Costa’s took an interest in the property after noticing that it had been boarded up for numerous months. Walking towards the Delaware Tow Path with their daughters and family dog, they made a spontaneous decision to take the leap and initiate inquiries as to what it would take to own this beautiful, but neglected and abandoned property. Half a year later, the D’Costa duo took ownership of The National Hotel and worked at a feverish pace to be able to open its doors exclusively for “the locals,” who had encouraged and supported the couple through months of negotiations and heart-wrenching disappointments, only to survive the ordeal and beat out competitors and other interested parties solely by sheer will and perseverance. The township residents’ support of the two, propelled them further into making sure that the building would be “breathing” again before winter set in.

And so it was that on November 3rd, 2009, The National Hotel opened its doors during New Jersey’s election day, very quietly, without any fanfare, without any dedicated marketing or public relations efforts. Today, seven months after that day, the D’Costa’s feel that they are in a position to offer their unique style and ambiance to those outside of our local community. Much of this is owed to the feedback of the very local residents who supported the couple from day one. They are ready. The National Hotel is ready.

The festivities, open to the public, are sure to become “the biggest party in a little town,” with Dancing-Under-the-Stars commencing at 10p.m. to close out the day’s celebration.

An all-day music pass costs $10pp and $5 for kids 6 – 12. Children under 6 are admitted free. Food and drinks will be available for purchase outdoors too.

The National Palooza is an outgrowth of The National Hotel’s cultural events, including a weekly Open Mic Night on Thursdays in its Rathskeller Pub and its Sunday Musical Afternoon series, in addition to The National Hotel’s monthly poetry open mic (The People’s Poetry), and other cultural and community events (including an upcoming dinner theater in conjunction with River Union Stage in July).
