)-- The Orange Planet Athletic Club launches FIT Play after school sports for boys and girls in the 6, 7 and 8th grade. South East Polk sixth grade center (Spring Creek) and the junior high will offer bus services after school to The Orange Planet. Activities will start at 3:30 and end around 5:15. Parent pick up is from 5:15 pm - 6 pm. Students have the opportunity to enroll in a three day leadership academy teaching them how to eliminate excuses and become solid leaders. The students who choose to attend leadership week will have an opportunity to exercise those skills as they lead teams of other students in a variety of sports.
The uniqueness of the FIT Play after school program is that the students have no adult coaches or parents present. This allows the students to engage and participate in competitive sports with kids and without adults present. The FIT Play adult leaders will help facilitate game play and keep score. All sports will have officials and jerseys, and will be shortened to help keep the many students playing rather than sitting.
The company website has additional information on the rules of each sport. The Orange Planet is conveniently located within four miles of South East Polk Junior high. "Having the buses drop students off after school helps students be able to get to our facility. We believe FIT Play is a great alternative which allows students to play in a full sports program for around $5 per hour," said founder David Charleston.
FIT Play after school sports can take approximately 80 students per sport. They will service students on a first come first serve registration process which is currently underway. The Orange Planet is located in Pleasant Hill Iowa just off highway 5 and East University.
