Pioneer Financial Services Honored by the Department of Defense

Pioneer Financial Services honored for its support of employees serving in the National Guard and Reserve.

Kansas City, MO, August 17, 2005 --(PR.com)-- Mr. David Janes, National Chairman for the National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense agency, today congratulated Pioneer Financial Services as a 2005 Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award recipient.

Pioneer Financial Services is one of only 15 employers selected in July 2005 from nearly 1,500 nominations from National Guardsmen and Reservists for this prestigious award from the National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR). The 2005 recipients include Alticor, Incorporated, Citizens Financial Group, Eaton Corporation, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, IDACORP, Los Angeles Police Department, Louisiana Department of Safety & Corrections, Ryland Homes, Sears, Roebuck and Co., South Dakota State University, the State of Delaware, Toyota Motor Sales, USA, USAA, and Wachovia Corporation. The Award ceremonies will take place at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, D.C. on October 15, 2005 the 10th anniversary of this prestigious award program.

“The nearly 1,500 companies that were nominated for this award are doing the right things for the men and women of the Armed Forces”, said Tom Holcom, President of Pioneer Financial Services, Inc. “We are just honored to be selected as one of the recipients.”

Pioneer Services employees on active duty in the National Guard or Reserve, receive salary and benefits differential for up to two years, paying bonuses in advance of the deployment to assist with financial needs, and assigning a family support coordinator for the employee’s family to assist with any issues that may arise. In some situations, Pioneer Services will set up video email capability in the employee’s home and pay for their internet access, and will also pay cellular phone charges for employees who have company-issued phones.

Richard McNorton, Army Reserve Major, who is currently serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom nominated Pioneer Financial Services for the award. “It’s great working for Pioneer Services. They have always taken care of me and my family before, after, and even during mobilizations”, said McNorton.

The Department of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award is a tribute to Pioneer Services for their leadership and support”, said David Janes.

Then-Secretary of Defense William Perry instituted the Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award in 1996 under the auspices of the National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve. The award publicly recognizes employers, who were nominated by their employees who voluntarily serve in the National Guard and Reserve, for exceptional support above the requirements of the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act of 1994.

Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) is a Department of Defense agency established in 1972.
