Tacoma, WA, July 10, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Police arrested a twice convicted felon after Sonitrol Pacific’s monitored security cameras caught the man breaking into a truck inside the yard of a Tacoma auto repair shop July 3.

Operator Michael Young spotted a dark figure moving inside the yard of Gerber Collision with SonaVision, Sonitrol Pacific’s monitored security camera system. Young saw the person walking up to vehicles, trying their doors, and called Tacoma Police.

While police were on their way, Young watched the man open an unlocked truck and appear to burglarized it. Young kept the police updated on the man’s activities as he moved from vehicle to vehicle repeating the same suspicious activity.

When the first police officer arrived, the suspect jump into a vehicle and close the door in an attempt to hide. The officer saw the man and demanded he surrender.

A second officer arrived and the man tried to run. Police quickly caught up with him and took him into custody. Once the man was in custody, officers learned he was a twice-convicted felon with an outstanding arrest warrant in Montana. Officers recovered all the property taken from five vehicles.

Police officers were happy Sonitrol Pacific’s monitored video helped catch “a bad one.”

Unlike recorded video, Sonitrol Pacific’s monitored video alerts police to crimes in progress and allows officers to catch suspects in the act.
