Local Apartment Industry Donates Tools for Schools

Houston Apartment Association Collects School Supplies for Underprivileged Students.

Houston, TX, July 18, 2010 --(PR.com)-- What: School may be out for summer, but the Houston Apartment Association (HAA) has been focused on the classroom. HAA is spearheading a massive citywide school supply drive to collect items and monetary donations for needy children. The donations will be sorted at HAA offices and other locations before being distributed to Alliance of Community Assistance Ministry (ACAM) member agencies. The effort is expected to help more than 5,000 children.

Last year HAA collected $30,000 and more than 230 boxes of supplies.

When: 9 a.m. – 10a.m, Tuesday July 27

The first three locations below offer the best photo opportunities:

- West Houston, Houston Apartment Association, 4810 Westway Park Blvd (77041).

- Galleria area and inside 610 loop, Ameritex Movers, Schumacher Lane (77063).
- Southeast Houston and Clear Lake, at Century A/C, 9100 Winkler (77017).

To encourage the donations, a collection contest was established. The apartment property that raises the most money/supplies will receive an all inclusive “Back to School” party for its residents, complete with an outdoor theater movie set up, snacks, beverages and door prizes. It will also be featured in an issue of ABODE, HAA’s monthly magazine.
