NAWBO SD Donates $1,500 to City College

NAWBO San Diego donated $1,500 to City College to fund three $500 scholarships for women business students. The money was raised at a silent auction held in conjunction with the chapter's annual signature event, the BRAVO! Awards.

San Diego, CA, July 28, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The San Diego chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO), which promotes, supports and educates women business owners in achieving success, announced today that it has donated $1,500 to San Diego City College, which will fund three $500 scholarships for women pursuing business degrees. A check was presented to Carmen Ruffo, City College’s scholarship coordinator, at NAWBO San Diego’s July 21 lunch meeting.

“In these economic times more than ever, the students at San Diego City College will benefit from NAWBO San Diego’s generous gift for scholarships,” Ruffo said. “The college has not awarded a business scholarship in a couple years. This gift renews this scholarship, so we really appreciate NAWBO’s support and interest in our students.”

The scholarship money was raised during the silent auction held as part of NAWBO San Diego’s BRAVO! Awards. NAWBO San Diego President Christine McDannell noted that the chapter is happy to ensure that its annual chapter fundraiser also has a community beneficiary.
