Fort Myers Attorney Guy Whitesman Elected Chair of Florida Bar Tax Section

Whitesman has become Chair of the Tax Section of The Florida Bar as of July 1, 2010. Mr. Whitesman is a long time active member of the Executive Council of the Tax Section. He is also a Board Certified tax attorney and past chair of Tax Law Certification Committee, which oversees the board certification process in taxation for The Florida Bar.

Mr. Whitesman chairs Henderson Franklin's Business and Tax division and concentrates his practice in income and estate tax planning, mergers and acquisitions, health care law and business planning. He also acts as general counsel to a number of the firm's clients. For five consecutive years, Mr. Whitesman has been named by Florida Super Lawyers® magazine as one of the top attorneys in Florida. He is also AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell.

Mr. Whitesman is and has been active in the Southwest Florida community and is a past president of the Jewish Federation of Lee and Charlotte Counties, the Calusa Nature Center, and the Rotary Club of Fort Myers South. He currently serves as trustee of the Southwest Florida Community Foundation, as a trustee the Edison-Ford Winter Estates Foundation, as a director of the Community Cooperative Ministries, Inc. and as a director of the Edison Pageant of Light of Fort Myers, Inc.

Mr. Whitesman received his undergraduate (B.A.) and law degree (J.D.) from University of Michigan, and his Masters in Taxation (LLM Tax) from the University of Florida.
