Recognition by Design (RBD) Grows as Unemployment Increases

Saint Louis, MO, September 09, 2010 --(PR.com)-- RBD is growing as a result of this unprecedented decline in employment. While jobless statistics continue to show no improvement. Actually things are worse than indicated, add in the underemployed and the discouraged and the unemployment rate rises to 16.6% (Saint Louis Business Journal, August 2010).

Layoffs are prevalent in both large and small businesses causing ever increasing despair among the “yet to be laid off” employees. The impact on the remaining employees results in decreased productivity and greater turnover. RBD is growing because it’s clients, now more than ever, need a simple but effective strategy to sincerely and consistently convey appreciation and value to those employees who exhibit the core values of the company. Ned Durham, Director of Business Development, stresses the “sincere” in the communication of employee Recognition. Durham insists without sincerity, no employee recognition solution will ever succeed. “After the sincerity issue has been established, recognition doesn't need to be expensive or complicated, it just needs to be fair bestowed and based on observable, measurable behavior.

The last factor in effective recognition is communication, communicated verbally, in front of peers, written to family, in company newsletters and to the community.”

Seems like a lot but RBD handles all the details including training supervisors, award design &fulfillment, all communications...even provides measurable evidence of the program’s success. Cost really isn't a issue, most of RBD’s clients state the cost of RBD’s BRAVO strategies come out of existing operations budgets.

A well know Saint Louis HR consultant recently commented, “It’s a shame that it takes a dramatic downturn in the economy for corporations to try simple non-compensation strategies to increase their productivity, lower turnover, without wasting hard earned profits on questionable quasi-motivational strategies like points programs and impossible to achieve trips.”
