What do our young people have to look forward to in 2007? Are there opportunities to grow in the urban communities? Who will lead our young people towards positive goals? Will they continue to turn to gangs for their guidance and support? These and many more questions facing youth all over the urban communities are things that worry and concern Rap Activist "Shakka" and Ray Cook Youth program Director. They decided to take action to not let another year go by without trying to expand the work each has been doing in their neuighboorhoods. Shakka in Harlem NY and Ray in Baltimore.

With the support of sponsors Wabi Sabi Productions and Baltimore's Movements Unlimited Performing Arts Company, the first steps for change are beginning. They start with dialogue with the youth and see where it goes from there. The Lessons For Survival in 2007 forum lead by street smart Harlem resident "Shakka " and Baltimore native Ray Cook many possible solutions will be explored.

The idea of needing a plan for survival came directly out of the hurricane Katrina disaster. As a city, a state and the Federal government, along with most residents of the Gulf coast area can attest, No plan is almost certain death when the crisis comes. The youth need direction now after they are in a crisis where the odds are against them. Hopefully this forum will help them develop what they need for survival in 2007 and beyond. There will be a Special showing of Katrina:A Whole Lotta Water for the youth at reduced prices on 01/20/2007 at the Rognel Heights Cultural Center at 1200 Wicklow Rd.
