Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer and Connect2Give.com Urges Donors to Text a Donation in September: Cure Childhood Cancer Month

Milwaukee, WI, September 14, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Supporters of the Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer Fund (The MACC Fund) have a new and exciting way to help fund childhood cancer research by texting a small donation using their cell phones. Donors are invited to text the word “CURE” to 52000 on their mobile phones. The text message will automatically provide a one time $10 donation to MACC. The mobile giving program is launching in September 2010, which is also Cure Childhood Cancer Month. The MACC Fund’s goal is to raise $10,000. Connect2Give (Connect2Give.com) is partnering in the effort by focusing on the infrastructure for the fast and efficient mobile donations.

Founded in 1976, Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer, Inc. is dedicated to funding childhood cancer and related blood disorder research. Text donations will be used to support that research. The overall cure rate for all types of childhood cancer has risen from 20% to 80% in the past 33 years. Wilms tumor of the kidney is now 90% curable. Acute lymphocytic leukemia is about 85% curable. Thanks to generous donors, participants, and volunteers, the MACC Fund has contributed $36 million to childhood cancer and related blood disorder research.

Connect2Give, which manages the technically advanced mobile platform, is a fast growing gateway company headquartered in Miami, FL. Focusing on the infrastructure for the mobile donation market, Connect2Give ties telecommunication companies, media, advertisers, and providers of mobile services together with Donors to provide them with a fast, secure donation experience. Connect2Give supplies a simple API for access to mobile device users throughout the United States.

The MACC Fund is a not for profit 501(c)(3) corporation. The MACC Fund Scientific Review Board was established in 1980 to reinforce and ensure our institutional mission. The Scientific Review Board carefully evaluates the work of the researchers and clinicians. It also reviews grant applications submitted for research conducted outside of the MACC Fund's primary beneficiary locations. MACC's goal is to fulfill the mission of a 100% cure rate and to cure the MACC Fund out of existence.
