Shermco Acquires ESCO Energy Services

Cedar Rapids, IA, September 16, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Shermco Industries, headquartered in Irving, Texas, has reached an agreement to acquire ESCO Energy Services, a company based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, that specializes in electrical engineering, equipment repairs, maintenance and testing.

The acquisition will extend Shermco’s operations in the central United States, bringing the company’s depth and quality of service, including ISO 9001:2008 certification and NETA accredited testing, to more customers.

“Strategically, this expansion allows us to offer our services, performed by our quality group of engineers and technicians, to the wind power, electrical power generation, grain and meat processing, and industrial customer base in the Cedar Rapids, Des Moines and Quad Cities areas, along with the greater Midwest region,” said Ron Widup, executive vice president of Shermco.

Shermco, a leading provider of electrical power system maintenance, repair, testing and training since 1974, adds the Iowa division to its increasing number of service locations, including facilities in Austin, Texas, Houston, Texas, Sweetwater, Texas, and Tulsa, Okla.

“Iowa has rapidly become a national wind power leader and continues to be a strong agricultural and industrial center,” said Widup. “We feel our experience and capabilities will advance the state’s and the region’s industrial and economic objectives,” said Widup.
