Star Metro Chicago Real Estate Agent, Just 34, Takes Reins of RE/MAX Professionals in Bolingbrook, Ill.

Elgin, IL, September 18, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Ed Lukasik, Jr., is only 34, but that didn’t stop him from becoming the top individual agent in the RE/MAX Northern Illinois network based on commissions earned in 2009. And his success in metro Chicago real estate sales hasn’t discouraged him from taking on the added challenge of becoming the broker/owner of the RE/MAX Professionals office in Bolingbrook, Ill.

Lukasik, though, doesn’t focus on his age or on his past. He’s looking ahead to the future, both for himself and for the office he now runs. He acquired the office from Lorraine Romy, the long-time owner of RE/MAX Professionals, who has been part of the RE/MAX Northern Illinois network almost since its inception in 1977.

“I appreciate the opportunity that’s been given to me,” Lukasik said. “There are plenty of other people who could have been asked to take over or purchase the office. I appreciate the fact that Lorraine thought enough of me to think I had it in me to take over the office.

“This is an exciting time. It’s a little stressful, too. With our current market situation, a number of real estate offices in Bolingbrook have closed. Buying this office when competitors are shutting theirs can be a little scary. But I’m always up for challenges. I had an opportunity, and it was something I couldn’t pass up.”

In addition to receiving a new owner, RE/MAX Professionals also recently moved to new quarters at 484 W. Boughton Road. It is home to 13 agents, including Lukasik. All but two of the agents have been in the business for at least 20 years. Of course, one of those two agents with less time in the business is Lukasik, who didn’t enter the real estate field until early 2001.

He can thank his father, Ed Lukasik, Sr., for inspiring him to try selling homes for a living. The younger Lukasik was operating a landscaping company when his father recruited him to the real estate business. The young agent describes this moment as a crossroads. He’s confident that making the move to real estate was the right choice.

“I’ve been blessed,” he said.

Today, Lukasik, Jr., specializes in selling foreclosure and investment properties. It’s a market that he has focused on since earning his real estate license and long before the housing industry slowdown made the distressed properties segment such a big part of the business.

“This market is a lot of work,” Lukasik said. “But it’s a different type of work. I get to be out in the field a lot. I’m not a sit-in-the-office person. Every day is different. There is always something new going on. That keeps it exciting. There isn’t one day that’s like the next. As long as you do your work and meet your timelines, there seems to be an endless supply of listings.”

Lukasik says he plans to put the same amount of effort into guiding RE/MAX Professionals.

“With the way I work and the amount of time I put into things, I believe I can lead this office,” Lukasik said. “I’m looking forward to the challenge. Meeting challenges has always been something I’ve enjoyed.”
