Steele Rose Communications Wins Two Crystal Awards of Excellence in the 2005 Communicator Awards

Combined Coverage of Business Merger and Product Launch Introduces Universal Group as a New Competitor in the "Battle of the Blades"

White Plains, NY, August 26, 2005 --(PR.com)-- Steele Rose Communications (www.steelerosecomm.com), an internationally recognized, award-winning public relations agency, today announced that they have been honored with two Crystal Awards of Excellence in the 2005 Communicator Awards Print Media Competition honoring the world’s most innovative and outstanding work in the communications field.

Steele Rose Communications won two prestigious awards of excellence for their impressive Public Relations Campaign of Universal Group, the exclusive licensee of Noxzema and Old Spice High Endurance shaving products. By combining the news of the merger between Universal Group and Japanese blade producer The Kai Group with the launch of the world’s first four-blade disposable razor, Steele Rose Communications earned an exclusive story from Associated Press. The firm received their second Crystal Award for their successful Publicity launch of both Old Spice High Endurance shaving and face products for men and Noxzema shaving products for women 4-Blade razors, the FIRST 4-Blade disposable razors for men and women on the market.

“To be judged by professionals around the world among entries from agencies worldwide as the top work in public relations is a real honor, especially considering the hundreds of other fine agencies, corporations and non-profit organizations eligible for the awards,” said Karen Barnett, President, Steele Rose Communications. “We are honored to win two Crystal Awards of Excellence in such a prestigious competition.”

Previous awards granted to Steele Rose Communications include the Gold, Grand, and Honors awards in the Mercury competition, a Silver Sabre Award finalist, and one of Holmes Group’s 100 Best Public Relations Programs of 2003.

“Anyone who’s ever attempted to get a newspaper or magazine editor to run an editorial story about their business or new product knows the difficulty of communicating with busy newspaper and magazine editors,” said Barnett.  “Standing out among the scores of press releases they receive each day is a formidable challenge and our press strategy for our clients communicates the forward thinking and leadership position of our agency.”

Building awareness and credibility of the new line of Old Spice High Endurance and Noxzema shaving products was a challenging task competing with industry giants Gillette and Schick. By creating a buzz conducting one-on-one meetings with the top influential beauty and grooming magazine editors, building credibility with influential and early adopters of the products, and achieving valuable coverage from the Associated Press, Steele Rose reached almost 1 BILLION consumer and trade audiences worldwide. Top coverage included placement of the Noxzema Eyebrow Shaper in Good Housekeeping magazine, one of the most popular consumer publications resulting in almost 20 million impressions.

This year, nearly 5,078 entries were received from throughout the United States and several foreign countries including the United Kingdom and South Korea. Judging for the award represented a group of the most illustrious creative professionals in the communications industry. Thousands of distinguished public relations, marketing, and advertising agencies, as well as graphic and web design firms submitted their work for judgment by the award winning panel of communications professionals. Entries were judged against a high standard of excellence rather than against each other. The Crystal Award of Excellence is given to those entries whose ability to communicate through the print medium, puts them among the best in the field earning them a score of 90 points and above from the expert judges.

The annual Communicator Awards competition is an international awards competition founded by communication professionals to recognize excellence in the communication field. The awards programs were founded to promote excellence in the various fields of communications. Winners have come form all 50 states and numerous foreign countries.
