Wellness House of Annapolis Celebrates Growth, Gardens and a New Film at Annual Fundraiser

Annapolis, MD, October 02, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The 2010 La Fiesta del Verano annual fundraiser raised nearly $40,000 for Wellness House of Annapolis as it helps cancer patients and their loved ones recover health and well-being through participation in free support programs and services.

More than 240 attendees enjoyed the outdoor celebration on August 28, at Mas Que Farm in Annapolis, which is also home to the Chesapeake Dressage Institute.

The new Healing Garden was unveiled prior to the party during a special ceremony and blessing by Reverend Rick Hase. The garden served as a symbol of the continual growth of the organization as it enters its second year. Attendees who made a donation to Healing Garden’s “Sponsor a Plant Sale,” raised more than $10,000 to help maintain the site and pay for larger items such as trees and hardscape.

Wellness House of Annapolis hopes that visitors and members will use the Healing Garden and its therapeutic qualities as a place to relax and connect with nature. The garden area will also be used as an outdoor meeting space for Wellness House of Annapolis programs.

Attendees at La Fiesta del Verano were also witness to the debut of the new Wellness House of Annapolis informational film produced by Northstar Entertainment, with assistance from staff and many volunteers who shared their personal stories about cancer.

The seven-minute film can be viewed on the Wellness House of Annapolis web site at: www.AnnapolisWellnessHouse.org.

La Fiesta del Verano (“The Party of the Summer”) was made possible by numerous volunteers, donors and sponsors, including the Chesapeake Dressage Institute which provided the venue.
