North Raleigh Florist Owner Janice Cutler Honored with Leadership and Service Award

Cutler Recognized for Her Ongoing Efforts Serving the Wake County Business Alliance for Mt. Vernon Middle School

Raleigh, NC, October 09, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Janice Cutler, president and owner of North Raleigh Florist (http://www.northraleighfloristinc.com) has been recognized with the award for Leadership and Service for her work with the Wake County Business Alliance for Mt. Vernon Middle School. This award highlights the work Cutler has achieved with the school, including the implementation of programs in which she held mock interviews with 8th-grade students and her participation in the job shadowing program and career fairs. Her efforts also include visiting classrooms to speak to students on topics such as career choice and character education. Cutler accepted her award at the Wake County Business Alliance Volunteer Breakfast on Sept. 21. Cutler partners with her Business Alliance Committee members to provide students with valuable resources for making productive and responsible career choices. In her second year as chair person for the business alliance, she works closely with Mt. Vernon’s career development counselor to provide leadership for the Alliance, engage in the planning and organization of career-related activities for students, facilitate meetings, implement goals and encourage Alliance members to meet them, and communicate the mission and goals of the alliance to the community.

The Wake County Business Alliance is a collaborative partnership between business leaders throughout Wake County and the educators at local middle and high schools. The career and life expertise of these business leaders provides students with the relevancy between education and future careers. Through career-related events, businesses can help prepare students to be future employees of Wake County.
