Apps of All Nations LLC, a producer of international applications, was named a Finalist in both the Technology Innovator of the Year and Best New Company of the Year categories in the 7th annual Stevie Awards for Women in Business.
Lynchburg, VA, October 17, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Apps of All Nations, LLC was named a Finalist in both the Technology Innovator of the Year and Best New Company of the Year categories in the 7th annual Stevie Awards for Women in Business.
The Stevie Awards for Women in Business honor women executives, entrepreneurs, and the companies they run – worldwide. The Stevie Awards have been hailed as the world’s premier business awards.
Nicknamed the Stevies for the Greek word “crowned,” winners will be announced during a gala event at the Marriott Marquis hotel in New York on Friday, November 12. Nominated women executives and entrepreneurs from the U.S.A and several other countries are expected to attend. The presentations will be broadcast live on radio in the U.S.A. by the Business TalkRadio Network.
More than 1,200 entries – a record for the competition - were submitted this year for consideration in 54 categories, including Best Executive, Best Entrepreneur, and Best Community Involvement Program. Apps of All Nations, LLC is a Finalist in the Technology Innovator of the Year and Best New Company of the Year.
Apps of All Nations, LLC was founded in November 2009 by Isabelle Duston, a French native living in Virginia with an MBA from ESCP-Europe. Duston started the company from her kitchen table with the idea of designing international cookbook applications for the iPhone. These applications, called iCooking, are available in 10 languages. Encouraged by the success of iCooking, Duston began working on iStory, a series of interactive children’s stories for the iPad, also available in multiple languages.
“Apps of All Nations keeps an international focus, creating apps that are accessible in many languages and working with a diverse team from across the globe,” said Duston. “We are extremely excited to have been chosen as finalists in not one but two categories. The team has worked really hard this past year, collaborating with an inspiring amount of dedication and drive.”
Finalists were chosen by business professionals worldwide during preliminary judging.
Members of the Awards' Board of Distinguished Judges & Advisors and their staffs will select Stevie Award winners from among the Finalists during final judging.
“It was harder than ever to be recognized in the Stevie Awards for Women in Business this year,” said Michael Gallagher, president of the Stevie Awards. “Receiving a high score from the judges this year illustrates how well many women in business are doing despite the stiff challenges they face.”
“Part of the reason our company is doing so well is that we all believe in what we are working toward. Creating applications with an international scope makes them inclusive to so many people who may not use them if they were only in English,” explained Duston. “As for our storybooks, as a mother of three, I understand the importance of educational growth. Our iStory applications all teach a valuable lesson or skill, so that the children reading them are learning while being entertained. Everyone on the team is passionate about our projects, and we are so proud, and thankful, of how far we have come. In fact, the success of the applications actually inspired us to found a non-profit, iLearn4Free. Using the same business model, we are developing applications that will provide children in developing countries with an opportunity to learn how to read. By creating the apps in as many languages as possible, we are hoping to bridge the digital gap between English and non-English speakers.”
