Croix Valley Steak Sauces Announced as Three-Time 2011 Scovie Award Winners

Croix Valley Steak sauces wins two First Place and one Second Place 2011 Scovie Awards for their entire line of hand-crafted gourmet steak sauces.

Hudson, WI, October 22, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Competing in the world’s most competitive fiery foods competition, Croix Valley Steak Sauces has been honored with three 2011 Scovie Awards for their entire product line of hand-crafted gourmet steak sauces. In the industry’s most rigorous blind tasted food competition, a panel of over 90 of the country’s top culinary experts sampled hundreds of product entries before naming top honors. Croix Valley Steak Sauces received a First Place win in the condiments category for meat sauce with their Croix Valley Hot ‘n Spicy Steak Sauce while their Croix Valley Original Steak Sauce received First Place in the non-spicy condiments category for meat sauce followed by a Second Place win in the same category for their Croix Valley Garlic ‘n Herb Steak Sauce.

The Scovie Awards is an annual competition that crowns the top fiery food and barbecue products from around the globe, named after Wilbur Scoville, who pioneered a rating scale for spicy foods. The event, now in its 15th year, was created by Dave Dewitt, founder and co-publisher of Fiery Foods & BBQ magazine and founder of the National Fiery Foods & BBQ Show. This year, organizers said the competition was particularly fierce, with 139 companies entering 639 different products from 37 states and six countries.

“I was blown away by all of the great submissions. Some are out of this world and the new ideas and flavors never cease to amaze me. The competition gets better and better each year,” DeWitt said.

Damon Holter, founder of Croix Valley Steak Sauces, commented, “This is an amazing win for our first year in business. To win a Scovie is such an honor, but to win three 2011 Scovie’s for each of our products really speaks to the commitment to quality we have for our sauces. I’m very excited and couldn’t have asked for better results.”

Croix Valley Steak Sauces began producing gourmet steak sauces less than a year ago, when Holter decided to make a full time business out of a recipe he developed for his parent’s Hertel, WI steakhouse, TimbeRidge Roadhouse, back in 1996. With their motto that “Croix Valley Steak Sauces are “Beyond Steak”™, the sauces have been tried, tested and reviewed to critical acclaim on nearly every meat and vegetable and even used as a base for a bloody mary. With the new Scovie wins, Holter expects to bring the versatility of his brand of sauces to new audiences across the country.

Croix Valley Steak Sauces is located in Hudson, Wisconsin and products can be purchased at over 200 meat markets, restaurants, grocery and specialty food stores across Wisconsin/Minnesota and can be purchased online at www.croixvalleysteaksauce.com.

The Scovie Award winners can be seen and tasted at the 2011 Fiery Foods & Barbecue Show March 4-6, 2011 at Sandia Resort and Casino in Albuquerque, New Mexico. For more information please visit: www.fiery-foods.com.
