Simi Valley Police Foundation is a Sponsor of Football Game Nov. 14

The Gary Galloway Memorial Football Game is named for the officer who served SVPD for more than 30 years. It is a much anticipated contest between the Fire and Police departments.

Simi Valley, CA, November 08, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The Simi Valley Foundation is proud to be one of the major supporters of the Gary Galloway Memorial Football Game set for Sunday, Nov. 14, at Simi Valley High School. Starting at noon, the game will be between Simi Valley Police Officers and the Ventura County Firefighters.

According to the YourNews posting at the VC Star's website, veteran detective for the Simi Valley Police Department Gary Galloway died of cancer in 2007.

Because he spent most of his career investigating child abuse, Gary’s widow, Victoria Bolt felt compelled to benefiting the Make-A-Wish Foundation with proceeds from the game.

“Everyone handles the loss of a loved one differently," she said. "I feel an overwhelming desire to share who my husband was and organizing this event lets me do that.”

This is the second year the group will be adopting a wish of a child with the funds raised. For each gift of $5,000, a group can adopt-a-wish through the Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Tri-Counties.

This year’s adopt-a-wish child is four-year-old Chad Cardilino who was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in March and is currently going through treatment. He and his family, mom Julia, dad Christopher, brother Miles and sisters Danielle and Lindsey will be special guest at this year’s game.

Chad’s wish to go to Disneyland will be granted in January 2011.

The game is at Simi Valley High School, 5400 Cochran St., Simi Valley, CA 93063.

Admission is $5 for everyone over 13. Kids 12 and under get in free.

Gates open at 11:00 am for Pre-Game, which includes a vintage motorcycle & muscle car show and demonstrations from the Simi Valley Police Department and the Ventura County Fire Department.
