Biologist Rupert Sheldrake Takes On Richard Dawkins, Telepathy Research, and ‘Neo-Darwinism’

In-depth interview with noted biologist Rupert Sheldrake explores how controversial science is debated.

Del Mar, CA, January 22, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Join host Alex Tsakiris when he interviews biologist Dr. Rupert Sheldrake of Trinity College, Cambridge about telepathy research, ‘neo-Darwinism’, and how controversial science is debated.

During the hour-long interview Sheldrake responds to the comments of evolutionary biologist Dr. Richard Dawkins, of Oxford University.

“I’d say my view is very close to Darwin.  Richard Dawkins’ view, oddly enough, isn’t very Darwinian, it’s ‘neo-Darwinian’. What makes it different is the denial that there can be any kind of memory or spontaneous creativity in species,” Sheldrake states.

Sheldrake also discusses the state of telepathy and parapsychology research.

“I think the scientific community has a diversity of opinions regarding telepathy. Many scientists are open-minded to the idea, partly because they’ve had these experiences themselves.  But, there are a group of scientists and non-scientists who are adamantly opposed to the idea, not because they’ve studied the evidence, but because they haven’t,” says Sheldrake.

Dr. Rupert Sheldrake is the author of more than 75 scientific papers and 10 books including, ‘Dogs that Know When Their Owners are Coming Home’, and ‘The Sense Of Being Stared’.
