Bayshore Home Health Launches Optimacura™, a Leading-Edge Suite of Clinical Programs

Bayshore Home Health today announced the launch of Optimacura™, a new suite of inter-professional clinical programs including wound care, fall prevention, pediatric care and more. The benefits include enhanced patient care, better health outcomes and reduced costs for health care partners and funders.

Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, November 19, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Bayshore Home Health today announced the launch of Optimacura™, a new suite of inter-professional clinical programs including wound care, fall prevention, pediatric care and more. The technology and reporting system behind Optimacura make it unique among clinical programs. Its data collection and analysis methods lead to customized solutions for health care funders and to more accountability from front-line nurses and caregivers, who strive to improve patient outcomes.

"Optimacura programs provide an outcome-based approach to patient assessment, care planning, treatment and evaluation," says Holly Quinn, Bayshore’s chief nursing officer. "In addition, Optimacura is backed by leading-edge technology that enables health care providers to make informed decisions about therapy while continually measuring clients’ progress with respect to treatment goals."

Optimacura’s focus on evidence-based care promotes healing and reduces the frequency of nursing visits and the length of care required. "Health care goals are met more quickly which leads to increased quality of life for patients," adds Quinn. "We’re already seeing improvements in wound care, with patients exceeding recovery benchmarks for certain wound types."

Health care professionals and funders will benefit greatly from Optimacura’s outcome reporting and analysis. Technology supporting Optimacura programs offers point-of-care decision tools to an inter-professional team that includes nurses, physiotherapists and other allied health professionals. The creation of electronic patient records and the ability to analyze this data leads to customized solutions based on a funder’s unique patient population.

"Analysis can show gaps in best practices that vary from region to region across the country," explains Quinn. "With Optimacura we can delve into the statistics and identify the reasons behind the gaps while offering customized solutions to improve each health-care funder’s bottom line."

With Optimacura, data can show a potential problem or need for change. The benefit to funders is knowing where a systemic problem lies and where to allocate resources for improvement. For example, the data may show that for a certain wound type the time between visits is too short. Best practices may suggest a longer interval between visits, resulting in better care, faster healing and better use of resources.

Bayshore’s clinical practice leaders, along with third-party health care experts on its National Clinical Advisory Council, will continually consult and review Optimacura programs and update them based on new research.

In addition to being used by Bayshore’s caregivers, Optimacura is also available to outside organizations as a model for how to treat patients. Its suite of clinical programs includes infusion therapy, palliative care, fall prevention, pediatric care, spinal cord injury and care, acquired brain injury care, medication management, chronic disease management and specialized wound care.
