Jemba's Annual 2010 Christmas Toy & Gift Drive

Jemba is a teenager on a mission. Jemba is also an actor, model and young performer. For the past 3 years he has hosted a Xmas Toy & Gift Drive for families’ victims of domestic violence. This year he decided to form JADV (Jemba against Domestic Violence) he hopes one day JADV becomes a national organization that collects Xmas Gifts for domestic violence victims throughout the country.

Los Angeles, CA, November 26, 2010 --(PR.com)-- For the past 3 years, Oston aka Jemba has organized a gift drive to benefit The Jenesse, the oldest domestic violence shelter in South Central Los Angeles. He contacts the shelter to determine the families’ wish lists. Then he makes flyers to pass out and contacts schools, churches and other organizations to ask for donations of toys for the shelter. This past year, Oston began using social media to solicit donations. Every year he is able to help more people. In 2009 he helped more than 150 families. This year he has expanded the toy and gift drive with more collections sites. Jemba will serve several shelters this Christmas. Each year Jemba places collection boxes at various businesses, schools and organizations.

This year Jemba hopes to collect enough gifts to serve 500 families. Jemba’s Annual Xmas Toy & Gift drive begins November 27th until December 23rd 2010. So far, Jemba has the following drop off locations supporting the drive:
Nederlander Concerts/Pantages Theater, The Larchmont Larder, The Ebell Women’s Club of Los Angeles, Oakwood Secondary School, ABetterChance Southwest Region, Wagon Wheels Pre-School and Windsor Square Hancock Park Historical Society. Additional locations will be listed on the website. In addition to toys, there is a need of gifts for the Moms and their babies, as well as gifts for teenagers who are often forgotten. For older kids, gift certificates, handheld games, cell phones used or new, sports related toys. Wish lists are posted on JADV website www.jemba.org

The items collected will go to The Jenesse Center, The African Resource Center and other shelters in Los Angeles, South Central Los Angeles and Compton. Please donate a new unwrapped item. Jemba believes we can all make a difference with our own two hands. Jemba is this year's 2010 P.T. Barnum Silver Award Winner for Southern California.
