Mary Joan Hoene Returns to Carter Ledyard & Milburn LLP as Counsel

New York, NY, December 03, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Carter Ledyard & Milburn LLP is pleased to announce that former partner Mary Joan Hoene has rejoined the firm as Counsel in the Corporate Department, effective today. She was previously Counsel to SNR Denton US LLP.

While at Carter Ledyard from 1999 – 2004, she led the legal and development work for the first exchange-traded gold fund, represented the American Stock Exchange in new product development and obtaining the necessary foreign regulatory approvals to list ETF shares overseas, developed a fund director practice, handled general corporate and securities matters, and represented investment advisers, broker-dealers and other financial industry participants.

From 2004 -2007, she served as independent fund Chief Compliance Officer at Bank of America, where she was responsible for establishing and defining the fund compliance program for four mutual fund families, aggregating more than $200 billion in assets following the bank’s merger with FleetBoston Financial Corp.

Ms. Hoene is a former Deputy Director of the Division of Investment Management at the Securities and Exchange Commission, and has held senior roles at several financial service firms.

She obtained a B.A. in English from Seattle University in 1970, a J.D. from Notre Dame Law School in 1975, and is currently admitted to the New York Bar. She serves on the Business Law Section and various other committees to the American Bar Association, and is a member of the New York City Bar Association and the Compliance and Legal Society of The Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association. She is on the Advisory Boards of the Mutual Fund Directors Forum and the SEC Historical Society, and is an Adjunct Professor at Roger Williams University Law School. Mary Joan is also a frequent panelist and speaker at financial and legal industry conferences.
