Simi Valley Police Foundation Celebrates 2010 Donors
The Simi Valley Police Foundation said thanks Wednesday night to hundreds of donors big and small whose combined gifts helped the Foundation make nearly $60,000 in allocations for unfunded programs of the Simi Valley Police Department during the year. The donors were honored at a modest reception co-sponsored by Lost Canyons Golf Club in Simi Valley.
Simi Valley, CA, December 10, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The Simi Valley Police Foundation said thanks Dec. 8, to hundreds of donors, big and small, whose combined gifts helped the Foundation make nearly $60,000 in allocations for unfunded programs of the Simi Valley Police Department. The donors were honored at a modest reception co-sponsored by Lost Canyons Golf Club in Simi Valley.
“Over $57,000 is huge in my book,” said Simi Valley Police Chief Mike Lewis. “Thank you so much for all that you do as volunteers in support of the efforts of your Police Department.”
The 2010 funding allocations included:
Communication Center Treadmill Workstation $2,915
Parent Project Workbooks for at-risk youth $1,345
Station Tour “Activity Patches” for Boy & Girl Scouts $550
Uniforms for SVPD Citizen Volunteers $6,500
K-9 supplies and training equipment $1,067
Purchase of K-9 “Titan”, training for dog and officer $18,600
Crime Prevention – “National Night Out” Program and Halloween Safety Program $1000
Equipment for SWAT Team – front & back level IV Triton ballistic plates for 16 team members $15,537.
Every 15 Minutes- teen driving safety program $2,500.
According to Chief Lewis, the police department has endured three consecutive years of budget cuts due to the ailing state economy. For the 2010-2011 fiscal years the budget is down about $2.1 million.
The Simi Valley Police Foundation has launched its first ever donation campaign timed to coincide with year-end giving to help ameliorate this budget shortfall. A link to the year-end giving donation form is on the Foundation’s website at www.svpf.org.
