TextBoard Brings Text Message Marketing to WMBF News Myrtle Beach

WMBF News has chosen TextBoard, a text-message marketing application created by OIR Interactive, to deliver breaking news and weather alerts directly to subscribers’ cell phones.

North Myrtle Beach, SC, December 12, 2010 --(PR.com)-- OIR Interactive has partnered with WMBF News Myrtle Beach to deliver local news and updates directly to residents. OIR Interactive, a local provider of comprehensive mobile marketing services, has developed its own in-house SMS application, TextBoard, as a means of offering text-message marketing campaigns to virtually any type of industry. WMBF turned to the increasingly popular and effective approach of text messaging in an effort to expand viewership and maintain current viewers by getting important news alerts out even faster to its audience. Through OIR Interactive’s application TextBoard, WMBF viewers can subscribe to receive news alerts and daily weather forecasts on their mobile devices. WMBF Vice President Ted Fortenberry reports on the success of the SMS campaign. "We have been very pleased with the partnership with OIR and TextBoard. The program was very easy to launch and in less than two weeks we have over 500 people signed up for breaking news and nearly 200 for our daily forecast updates. The alerts are delivered flawlessly and in a matter of seconds.”

The adoption of TextBoard has also meant increased possibilities for WMBF advertisers, who can now run their own SMS campaigns to promote coupons, discounts and contests via text. TextBoard has built-in features to track the effectiveness of every campaign it runs, so advertisers know exactly which promotional offers and which advertising locations get the highest response rates from consumers.

OIR Interactive CEO Justin Rockwell commented that the partnership with WMBF has been so successful because TextBoard can be adapted to suit the specific marketing needs of its clients and their audiences. “TextBoard is an excellent application that can be beneficial to broadcasters as well as many other industries. With so many people using their mobile devices to text, it made a lot of sense to bring TextBoard’s SMS service to WMBF and its viewers.”
