Turret Trucks for Antalis- Goscor Group of Companies

Antalis, a leading global distributor of paper and packaging products, has acquired two brand new turret trucks from Goscor Lift Truck Company (GLTC), requiring these “man-up” forklifts to operate in a particularly challenging 24 000m2 warehouse.

Johannesburg, South Africa, December 16, 2010 --(PR.com)-- “Antalis has been GLTC’s customer for over 15 years and awarded us the contract to supply a new phase of equipment for their very large and very busy warehouse. The Turrets are purpose-designed and purpose-built according to Antalis’ specifications – the lift trucks can extend 13m in the air, accessing paper and packaging products for distribution,” says Ronald Ryan, GLTC sales manager.

The turret – a TSP 6000 series offers the versatility to handle a wide range of warehousing challenges from storing large pallets to picking, transporting and ‘staging.’ The forklift – a Crown product - has a capacity to carry 1500kg. “Overall productivity is maximised and down-time reduced,” he adds.

Including the two new forklifts, Antalis has 16 Crown forklifts in operation. “Before the acquisition of new equipment, Antalis has always relied on our quality service and maintenance on the existing lift trucks. Obviously, customer service is of utmost importance to GLTC, so we have been particularly careful in ensuring that the equipment is compliant with all occupational health and safety standards,” says Ryan.

Yvonne Tambourlas, Antalis’ warehouse and distribution manager, says that Goscor was very reliable and its service was excellent. “I think a lot of our decision to choose Goscor was based on our historical relationship with them. Even though there are other players in the lift truck market, there was no question that Goscor would be the supplier of choice,” she says.

In addition to the Turret lift trucks reaching required heights, they can easily manoeuvre in narrow aisles. “It is important that our trucks are able to enhance efficiency as our customer completes 800 deliveries a day throughout southern Africa and sells over 80 000t of paper each year,” adds Ryan.

In conclusion Ryan says that GLTC’s has entrenched its relationship with Antalis. “We want to add value over the life-cycle of our products … Our commitment is to provide the best product backed by the best service over the long term.”
