Portsmouth, NH, December 17, 2010 --(PR.com)-- PoKos Communications chosen from highly select group of early stage startups

The New Hampshire Innovation and Commercialization Center (NH-ICC) announced today that PoKos Communications Corp has been selected as one of its high potential early stage resident companies, from a highly competitive mix of promising applicants. As the newest member of the NH-ICC family, PoKos Communications will leverage UNH resources (faculty and student interns) and receive help from seasoned startup staff, financial assistance, business resources, and consulting support in sales, marketing, operations and other business-critical areas.

PoKos Communications recently introduced, Social Messaging™, the first killer application for mobile phones. The NH-ICC is supporting New Hampshire-based PoKos Communications Corp in its roll-out of the Social Messaging™ platform’s distinct new features, which allow individuals to chat with people seen but not yet known, and provides brands with the capability to reach and enhance their interactions with targeted consumer groups.

“We chose PoKos Communications because they are well positioned to seize on their vision of changing the way we use and think of mobile phones, to communicate, make new friends, and discover new opportunities,” said Mark Galvin, Managing Director of the NH-ICC. “They have made exceptional progress as an early stage company in difficult times, and the technical/media space they operate in is getting “White Hot””.

PoKos Founder & CEO Timo Platt explained that Social Messaging™ also provides a “unique communications vehicle for brands to speak with targeted consumers and activate events.” Using the Company’s Event Messaging™ product and patent-pending technology, brands touch consumers through grassroots messaging and build viral customer support.

“We are looking forward to working with Mark’s team of founding company executives,” Platt exclaimed, “And leveraging business resources, seed capital and “hands on involvement” by seasoned guys who have done it before. All of us are quite honored by this selection,” Platt continued, “so we are ramping our efforts and zeal to enhance people’s life experiences with Social Messaging™.”

Galvin and Platt both noted that Social Messaging paves a different path than social networking. “The current social networking applications are a distraction,” Platt said, “taking people out of their daily lives and leading to asocial behaviors. Social Messaging™ is tightly integrated with consumers’ mobile lifestyle and activities, bringing people together and closer to their favorite brands.”

NH-ICC’s resident companies not only receive financial assistance, but work with the seasoned NH-ICC startup staff to complete key resident company assignments, leveraging the staff’s expertise in go-to-market strategy, market analysis, marketing communications, sales, channels, operations, finance and human resources. In addition, the companies share a high energy environment and business resources such as office space, meeting areas, communications’ systems and operations management services.

Terms of the arrangement between NH-ICC and PoKos were not disclosed.
