Tormach Releases New Tool Assistant Freeware

Waunakee, WI, January 15, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Tormach, LLC announced the release of Tool Assistant, a new software for managing tool tables, tool offsets, tool measurement for Tormach PCNC mills and other Mach3 controlled CNC mill systems. Tool Assistant is released as freeware and available for download at www.tormach.com.

Tool assistant allows you to read, write, sort, edit, duplicate and transfer the tool table information that is native to the Mach3. Additionally, Tool Assistant can be interfaced to an 8” digital height gauge for one button tool measurement and offline tool height presetting.

One difference between the Tool Assistant and conventional tool presetters is that while a conventional presetter measures both length and radius while Tool Assistant only measures length. The software will also only work with Tormach’s USB interface cable and 8” digital height gauge.

Tormach CEO Greg Jackson says, “People have been asking for this type of software for some time now. We’ve been tossing around ideas and have expanded a basic concept to provide much more. I think it’s pretty cool.”

Tool Assistant also allows for quick tool description entry with its’ predefined database of descriptions. For machinists that prefer their own descriptions the database allows for additions to the pull-down list. The software also has the ability to save the tool table in the .CSV file format which is common to Microsoft Excel and other programs. Some CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) programs can even read tool tables in the .CSV format, allowing the user to synchronize their CAM software to the mill software.
