Hoteles Silken Selects RateTiger for Channel Management

Spanish hotel chain reorganises sales structure to compete against international hotel brands.

Madrid, Spain, January 23, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Hoteles Silken has selected RateTiger's RTCorp and RTConnect products to help manage its group wide online sales channels. The hotel chain is introducing a new sales strategy to enhance positioning against other international hotel brands. Each property can now process competitive rate shopping, manage multiple online sales channels and distribution strategies, enhance OTA exposure and retrieve business intelligence and reservation data on-demand across its portfolio.

The RTCorp rate shopping solution has been implemented at group level to monitor Hoteles Silken properties’ rates across all relevant sales channels. This will provide the hotels as well as the group with a true insight into competitive positioning.

The usage of RTConnect, RateTiger’s industry XML gateway for availability and rate updates as well as reservation reporting, will give Hoteles Silken greater control over its distribution network. Being connected to Property Management System (PMS) Micros Opera, RTConnect will give each hotel access to direct sales, IDS and GDS without having to access any other system.

Hoteles Silken’s new Commercial Director, Alberto Izquierdo, and former Director of Sales and Marketing for Sol Melia in Palma de Mallorca and Sevilla Clusters, has primarily led the project. “We are implementing a new sales and revenue management structure to enhance the professionalism of the group which lets us better compete with our main competitors in the hospitality market. We have 32 great hotels with very good locations and magnificent customer service. Two of our Spanish properties are also 5* products: SILKEN Puerta América in Madrid and SILKEN Gran Dómine in Bilbao which require a slightly different strategy, requiring any solution to be flexible enough to adapt”

Alberto joins Hoteles Silken from two of the largest Spanish hospitality brands, Sol Melia and NH Hotels, where he worked as Director of Sales for the Spanish and Portuguese Business Unit. With this experience he plans to improve the fortune of Hoteles Silken: “We understand the importance of using the best and most advanced tool to operate effectively in a competitive environment. RateTiger will help us to forecast, benchmark and integrate these technologies in our Micros PMS. It makes all sales processes easier and grants greater control over our output.”

RTConnect has so far been installed in 25 properties that use Micros Opera PMS. Reservations are directly reported back to the PMS from the online sales channels. This eases tracking of available inventory and optimizes room distribution. In hotels where the Micros PMS is not available, Hoteles Silken has subscribed to RateTigers award winning RTSuite Channelmanager Pro. The front-end product helps those hotels to ease the complex and time consuming task of updating and managing rates and availability for multiple third party distribution websites.
