Austin, TX, February 09, 2007 --(PR.com
)-- More women - and designers - are choosing synthetic fibers over animal skins. Staying warm in the winter is no longer a chance to wear wealth and cruelty; it's now a chance to display hot fashion and compassion.
Even cutting edge beauty websites are now voicing their concerns over the massive killing and poaching of big cats, and urging readers to consider more global issues when shopping. At My Makeup Mirror
, a popular mainstream site, they've just added an article called Faux - The Beautiful Choice, offering alternatives to fur coats, and links to some of the better faux fur companies. They've even added an article listing cosmetic companies that do not test their products on animals. They've found a huge number of cruelty-free manufacturers, and are adding names to that list daily. Readers are loving it.
As they say at the Big Cat Rescue website (http://www.bigcatrescue.org), approximately 40 animals are killed for each fur coat. And each animal is killed in inhumane ways under deplorable conditions. Even fur farm animals are killed violently. Anyone who wears the fur of an animal - or purchases a fur rug, throw, scarf, or "decorative" trim - is part of this "chain of pain." And that's what women, and men, are now turning away from.
"Nice Girls Fake It" say the Big Cat Rescue people. "Go Cool vs. Cruel this Year."
And people are.
Donna Salyers' Fabulous Furs (http://www.fabulousfurs.com) is a high-end fashion site, featuring a leopard briefcase, a fur-trimmed coat, a full-length glamour sable coat, and a catalog full of fur items for the home and even the baby - without harming one hair on the head of one creature.
My Makeup Mirror's head writer, Suzann Kale (http://www.MyMakeupMirror.com
), says "A truly beautiful woman is the extension of a heart filled with compassion. She would choose to love animals, not wear them, eat them, or participate, even indirectly, in their abuse."
You can call it faux fur or fake fur. But at My Makeup Mirror they call it real. Real warmth, real value, real fashion, and real global awareness.
