Qualicare Nursing Home Earns a Five-Star Government Rating

Detroit Community Receives Top Honor From CMS

Southfield, MI, February 03, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Ciena Healthcare has announced that Qualicare Nursing Home, one of Ciena’s skilled nursing and rehabilitation communities located in Detroit, has earned the Five-Star Quality Rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), which signifies a “much above average” rating.

Five Stars is the highest and most respected rating a nursing home can receive, and it is based on health inspections, staffing and quality measures.

“At Qualicare Nursing Home, we not only believe in high quality patient care, we practice it and excel at it day in and day out,” said Kamran Chaudhry, administrator, Qualicare Nursing Home. “Every member of our staff, including our exceptional Director of Nursing, is dedicated to our residents and community. It is truly a team effort at Qualicare.”

CMS developed the Five-Star Quality Rating System to assist consumers, their families and caregivers in finding and comparing nursing homes more easily and to help identify areas to ask questions.

The rating system for U.S. nursing homes was modeled after the American Automobile Association's worldwide rating of hotels. It gauges comprehensive aspects of elder care, including staff-to-resident ratio, cleanliness, staff ability to prevent and treat simple medical problems and attention paid to upkeep of patient appearance.

“This Five-Star rating is reflective of the care not only provided at Qualicare Nursing Home, but all Ciena Healthcare communities,” said Tricia Tomkinson, regional director of operations, Ciena Healthcare. “We are extremely proud of this recognition and proud to be serving the residents of Detroit and southeast Michigan who count on Qualicare to provide unparalleled care for family members and loved ones in a convenient, nearby setting.”

Other Ciena Healthcare communities in Michigan to recently receive a Five-Star rating include Autumnwood of Deckerville, Autumnwood of McBain, Christian Park Village in Escanaba, Courtney Manor in Bad Axe, Lakeview Manor Healthcare Center in Tawas City and Willowbrook Manor in Flint.
