Houston, TX, February 04, 2011 --(PR.com)-- With the Big Game just days away, Saint Arnold Brewing Company (www.saintarnold.com), the oldest craft brewery in Texas, has announced the award winning recipes from its 4th Annual One Pot Showdown. The cooking competition, held over the weekend, pitted a record 50 teams against each other to see who could cook the most tasty and creative dish using Saint Arnold beer as an ingredient.

The champion's pot was awarded to The Eatsie Boys for their Lawn & Sea Stew, a mussel stew with chorizo made with Saint Arnold Fancy Lawnmower Ale. See the complete recipe at http://www.dpkpr.com/super-bowl-recipe-lawn-and-sea-stew/.

Second place was awarded to The One Pot Wenches for their Turkey and Collard Greens made with Saint Arnold Fancy Lawnmower Ale. Coming in third place was The Carnies (winner of the 1st Annual One Pot Showdown in 2008) for their Texas WHEATies– Saint Arnold Texas Wheat braised sausage stuffed inside a Texas Wheat pancake. “With Texas hosting the Big Game this year, Super Sunday will be an all-day affair, so it is only appropriate that the winners of the One Pot Showdown offer ideas for breakfast, lunch and dinner,” said Saint Arnold Founder and Brewer Brock Wagner. “When used well, as in all of these recipes, the beer gives the dish an extra dimension and complexity that can really make the flavors stand out. And the beers used in the dishes make the perfect complement to drink while enjoying the food.”

Joining Wagner in the judging were Houston Chronicle Beer Writer Ronnie Crocker, home brewing expert Doak Proctor, channel 13 reporter Miya Shay and Houston Press Food Editor Katharine Shilcutt. Prior to announcing the winners of the One Pot Showdown, Wagner handed a check totaling $3,800 to Noah's Kitchen, which provides the less fortunate with food, gently used clothing and the resources that will help them find medical help, shelter, employment and housing.
