“Ask-the-Expert” About Intellectual Property for Start-Ups: Some Keys to the Game

Manchester, NH, February 05, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Intellectual property (IP) rights are very valuable assets for a company. As a small business owner, it is important to understand the regulations in place for IP and develop an effective game plan to protect the business. Proper IP can help one avoid loss of rights, loss of ownership and liability to others.

Learn more about IP and the steps a business should be taking to develop an effective IP strategy in the February “Ask-the-Expert” online forum featuring expert Kevin Carroll, partner at Grossman, Tucker, Perreault & Pfleger, PLLC. According to Carroll, “Entrepreneurs should know what types of IP are available (i.e., patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets), the criteria for protection, and the procedures for obtaining the protection. Armed with this knowledge and a thorough internal review of its potential IP creations, entrepreneurs can capitalize on opportunities to secure potentially valuable IP.” It is important to recognize these IP rights before they are destroyed.
