Potato Fun at Derby College's Broomfield Hall Food Hub

The Food Hub at Derby College is hosting a series of activities for children during the February half term.

Derby, United Kingdom, February 17, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Derby College’s Food Hub at Broomfield Hall land-based campus in Morley will be helping youngsters to grow their own next week as part of a half term potato theme fun week.

Children can learn more about the vegetable, plant their own potatoes in pots to take home and join in free arts and crafts activities including potato printing.
The Food Hub will be open to families on Tuesday February 22, Wednesday February 23 and Friday February 25 between 10am and 4pm.

The new Food Hub at Broomfield Hall, supported by £299,000 from the Big Lottery’s Local Food scheme, includes a café and shop focusing on local produce and is open every day (Monday to Sunday) between 10am and 4pm.

Head of Broomfield Hall Louise Curd said: “Part of the focus for the Food Hub is to introduce local people to idea concept of growing their own food and the half term activities will be a fun way for families to join in potato themed activities, see what else we do and hopefully be inspired to try growing things back at home.”
