Naval Submarine Support Center Changes Commanders

Groton, CT, February 17, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Cmdr. Bryan C. Still will turn over command of Naval Submarine Support Center (NSSC) New London to Cmdr. Timothy P. Kollmer in a change of command ceremony on Friday, Feb. 18 at 10 a.m. at the Shepherd of the Sea Chapel.

During Still’s tour as commanding officer, NSSC improved its quality of support to submarines and staffs. Also it increased efficiency in supporting submarine operations, maintenance and repair, setting a new standard for shore-based submarine support.

Still, a native of Joplin, Mo., will next attend the Naval War College.

Kollmer previously served as the Deputy Commander for Readiness for Submarine Squadron TWO. He also served as Executive Officer aboard USS Wyoming (SSBN 742) BLUE and Engineering Officer aboard USS Maryland (SSBN 738) GOLD.

The scheduled guest speaker for the event is Capt. Frank Lowery, Chief of Staff of Submarine Group 2.

NSSC provides support to Submarine Squadrons Two and Four and Submarine Development Squadron Twelve at Naval Submarine Base New London. The scope of support includes administrative and personnel; legal; religious; operations; supply; communications; personnel security; information systems; weapons systems maintenance and modernization; weapons handling; and, medical.
