Dr. Newton’s Naturals: Taking the Plunge to Fight Childhood Cancer in Maine

After donating 20% of all profits to the Maine Children's Cancer Program during the holidays, Dr. Newton's Naturals of South Portland and its employees are helping the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital at Maine Medical Center again -- by taking part in the annual Polar Dip on Saturday, February 26th at Noon. Location: Raymond Beach, Maine (see below for directions and contact info.)

South Portland, ME, February 26, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Employees from DrNewtons.com, Maine’s largest direct to consumer vitamin company, will take part in the annual Maine Children’s Cancer Program (MCCP) Polar Dip. Braving the icy waters of Sebago Lake, these dedicated employees have raised individual funds to support this worthy cause. Along with a generous donation from Dr. Newton’s Naturals, the amount totals several thousand dollars.

The Maine Children’s Cancer Program is the only comprehensive treatment center in the state for children fighting cancer and blood disorders. MCCP helps children through their journey by providing high quality care and support for both patients and their families. MCCP is able to offer children in northern New England the same innovative treatments available at such renowned institutions as the Dana Farber Cancer Institute and the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital - but in a convenient, closer-to-home location.

Funding from the Polar Dip will help pay for things like state-of-the-art-equipment, psychosocial services, and research to help find a cure for childhood cancer. MCCP has an exceptionally strong research program. This is significant because treatment provided through clinical trials has increased the cure rate for childhood cancer from less than 10 percent in the 1950s to nearly 80 percent today.

By contributing to MCCP, Dr. Newton’s Naturals of South Portland will continue to help Mainers live healthier by supporting the recovery efforts of area children.

About The MCCP
