Director of Northern Virginia Tutoring Service Completes Two-Year Term as Chairman of the Greater Falls Church Chamber of Commerce

Dr. Ralph G. Perrino has completed a two-year term as Chairman of the Greater Falls Church Chamber of Commerce. During his tenure, he developed a program that advocated on behalf of the youth of Northern Virginia through a partnership with local public schools. He also forged an alliance with the Vietnamese, Black, Hispanic, and Asian Chambers of Commerce.

Falls Church, VA, February 26, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Dr. Ralph G. Perrino, Director of Northern Virginia Tutoring Service, recently completed a two-year term as Chairman of the Greater Falls Church Chamber of Commerce. At the outset of Dr. Perrino’s term, he set three fundamental goals:

1. Broaden the base of Chamber membership through outreach to four critical groups – Vietnamese-American Chamber of Commerce (VietAmCham), Northern Virginia Black Chamber of Commerce, Asian-American Chamber of Commerce, and Mid-Atlantic Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

2. Work with adjacent jurisdictions to address regional issues such as transportation, land-use, and development, and other pressing issues.

3. Develop a Chamber of Commerce alliance with local public school business partnership programs to encourage Chamber members and to volunteer in public schools near where they live or work in Fairfax County, Arlington County, or the City of Falls Church.

Dr. Perrino has long recognized the dramatic demographic changes that have altered the Washington metropolitan region. He has pointed out that the impact of these changes, beginning with the influx of Vietnamese immigrants during the 1970s, has been significant on the local economy, the local public school systems, and the local housing market. He has also long advocated that reaching out to these important demographics is not only sociologically sound; it is also smart business.

Dr. Perrino has a long professional record of public service as both an aide and Chief of Staff to a member of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, and in numerous other civic capacities in Arlington County, including founder, President, and Board member of the Columbia Pike Revitalization Organization (CPRO). The impact of these experiences has molded Dr. Perrino’s belief that an intergovernmental approach to issues impacting Northern Virginians is the most viable way to address the critical issues of the day, including transportation, land-use and development, and other regional issues.

As an educator, Dr. Perrino has long advocated on behalf of the youth in Northern Virginia. As Chamber Chairman, he has forged a strong alliance as a business partner with Fairfax County, Arlington County, and City of Falls Church public schools. His company, Northern Virginia Tutoring Service, is a corporate participant and sponsor of business partnership programs in each of these jurisdictions. During his term as Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce, Dr. Perrino initiated corporate and individual participation of Chamber members in all local public school districts.

Dr. Perrino will continue his work in these areas through continued involvement with the Vietnamese, Black, Hispanic, and Asian Chambers of Commerce. He also serves on the Board of the Fairfax Partnership for Youth, where he hopes to continue advocating for the youth of Northern Virginia.
