Free Webinar Will Show How to Choose the Best Heat Sink Materials on March 24 at 2:00 PM EST

ATS, inc., is presenting a free webinar: Heat Sink Materials: Choices and Tradeoffs on March 24 at 2 pm EST. The guest speaker is noted materials authority, Dr. Carl Zweben, Ph.D.

Norwood, MA, March 10, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Aluminum and copper heat sinks are both widely used, but why choose one over the other? Are there other heat sink materials that might be a better choice for transferring heat? The answer to the last question is: yes, more than many engineers realize. In the free technical webinar: Heat Sink Materials: Choices and Tradeoffs, on Thursday, March 24 at 2:00 pm EST, attendees will learn about other materials and their properties, including thermal conductivity, coefficient of thermal expansion and density. The webinar will show how trends in CPU core density affect thermal conductivity and how that affects heat sink material choice. Future directions, including carbon nanotubes, will be examined.

ATS guest speaker, Carl Zweben will present the live webinar. Dr. Zweben, an independent consultant, has directed development and application of advanced packaging materials for over 30 years, and was the first to use Al/SiC. For many years, he was Advanced Technology Manager and Division Fellow at GE Astro Space.

The Heat Sink Materials: Choices and Tradeoffs webinar is presented free. Pre-registration is required and can be done on the ATS website: Qats.com, by calling ATS at 781-769-2800, or e-mailing the company at joday@qats.com.

During 2011, Advanced Thermal Solutions, Inc. (ATS) is providing an all-new series of monthly webinars that explain different aspects of electronics thermal management. Each of the tutorials will include detailed visuals and real time narration by an ATS thermal management expert.
