Hathaway Construction Services, Inc. Hosts the 9th Annual "Swing a Club" for CASA Charity Golf Tournament
Atlanta, GA, March 11, 2011 --(PR.com)-- On Monday, May 2nd at the Harbor Club on Lake Oconee, Hathaway will partake in its 9th annual “Swing a Club” for CASA charity golf tournament. This tournament is a fun and exciting way to help an organization that provides essential services to the children in the community. CASA, or Court Appointed Special Advocates, is a national non-profit organization that was created in 1977 to represent the best interests of neglected and abused children. More than 900 CASA programs are in operation today, including Ocmulgee CASA, which encompasses eight counties in Middle Georgia. CASA volunteers make a difference in children’s lives, and Hathaway has been proud to be a part of this program for the past 8 years.
Under Michael Muggridge’s direction, Hathaway’s COO, Hathaway took the initiative in 2002 to coordinate the tournament. Employees reached out to friends and family, as well as vendors and customers to support and raise money for this special event. It was through successful networking and spreading CASA awareness that truly helped people understand and want to be involved with the organization. Although this was Hathaway’s first fundraising attempt, through the efforts of everyone involved, nearly $12,000 was raised for the CASA charity in 2003.
To this day Hathaway is still organizing the annual CASA Golf Tournament located at the Harbor Club Golf Course. Each year has been equally or more successful than the last. In 2010 there were 30 employees involved and nearly $45,000 in charitable money was raised for the CASA organization. In addition, priceless volunteer hours were put in by all departments of Hathaway, as well as the extensive network of professionals surrounding Hathaway’s employees. Not only were the employees able to use their business influence and relationships to get people involved, they were also able to educate and spread awareness for an important cause. Since 2003 we have raised nearly $200,000 for CASA.
