Diane Tegarden Guides Women Toward Independence After Divorce with Donna Marie Thompson, PhD - the CEO of Goals in Action, LLC on the Bouncing Back Now Internet TV Show

Washington, DC, March 21, 2011 --(PR.com)-- As Donna Marie Thompson's special guest on the Bouncing Back Now show on the Real Coaching Radio TV Network, Diane Tegarden, author of “How to Escape a Bad Marriage– A Self Help Divorce Book For Women” gave step-by-step instructions on how to achieve financial and emotional independence in preparation for divorce.

Tegarden introduced statistics on the soaring divorce rate in the US but also noted that many women do remarry within 10 years. She relayed the message that: "there is hope for that next relationship; no need for despair."

Tegarden characterized four categories of divorce from the very simple to the extremely difficult depending upon the level and nature of joint assets, whether children are in the picture, and the level of animosity associated with the couple and breaking up the marriage.

Tegarden explained that: "Some women stay too long in a broken marriage because they lack the financial wherewithal and the self esteem to strike out of their own – especially when there are children involved."

Tegarden also shared a helpful emotional readiness checklist in order to: "Assess how you would fare after your marriage including varying situations: living alone; telling your family, friends, and co-workers; seeing your ex with another woman; talking to your kids about the divorce; and having another woman taking care of your children. This readiness test will give you a window into your possible future. Then you can decide whether this is the right path for you to take."

Tegarden espoused that: "We manage our relationships with care and consideration. I want to dispel the myth of the perfect mate. We are all human, we all have flaws, and we all have opinions. When we are in a couple, many times there are two opinions that need to be reconciled. To assume that just because you are in a couple, that the two of you will merge all of your ideas, dreams, and opinions is pure folly. I endorse compassion and empathy toward your partner when your views diverge – as they inevitably will."

Thompson added that: "The 5:1 rule in relationship communications – where you first mention five good things about the relationship before you bring up the one issue that is lingering – can be very effective in resolving issues all along the way."
