Dig Coaching Practice Presents "ADHD: What is Neurofeedback, How Does It Work, and What Are the Advantages of It?" on Attention Talk Radio with Guest Dr. Michael Linden
Host Jeff Copper interviews Dr. Michael Linden on neurofeedback and its role in helping those with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) reclaim control of their lives. Dr. Linden discusses the advantages of using QEEG for an accurate diagnosis of ADHD, how neurofeedback treatment can be customized for each individual, and how the combination of neurofeedback and learning programs can condition one's brain to pay attention to things differently.
Dr. Michael Linden is a licensed clinical psychologist, marriage, family, and child therapist, and a BCIA Fellow and nationally certified neurofeedback and biofeedback therapist since 1984. He is the director of the Attention Learning Center and director of the Mission Psychological Consultants Biofeedback Program in San Juan Capistrano, California. He can be found online at www.mpccares.com.
Dr. Linden has been interested in helping children with attention deficit disorder and autism since high school. He shares that he is always frustrated by doctors who fail to complete a thorough evaluation and then misdiagnose ADD in more than one third of the cases. Even more disappointing, he asserts, are those professionals who are not open to any treatments other than stimulant medications for ADD, although neurofeedback (EEG biofeedback) for the treatment of ADD has been researched in scientific literature since 1976. With a proper diagnosis, Dr. Linden has found that an ADD child’s grades and self-esteem increase, and adults struggling with ADD also show great improvement. Dr. Linden shares that his professional goal is to help people with ADD and autism spectrum disorder to become aware of these long-lasting treatments that do not have side effects.
Dr. Linden shares that his most rewarding work has been in witnessing the near miraculous improvements in behavior, social skills, and communication after neurofeedback treatment. To Dr. Linden, it is heart-warming and unforgettable to see a child who begins to speak in sentences and actually carry on a conversation for the first time or an adult who has his first significant relationship.
