MD-IT Offers Easy Path to Earn Medicare ePrescribing Incentives, Avoid Payment Reductions

Providers can avoid CMS penalty with easy-to-use eRx on the MD-IT Platform.

Boulder, CO, March 23, 2011 --(PR.com)-- MD-IT, the nation’s leading provider of medical documentation software and service to ambulatory clinics and physician offices, announced today the release of an electronic prescribing system for healthcare providers. This new addition to the popular MD-IT Platform provides an easy way for eligible providers to increase Medicare revenue and avoid mandatory payment reductions during the next three years.

Under Medicare’s Electronic Prescribing (eRx) Incentive Program, physicians and other providers with prescribing authority must use eRx software to write prescriptions for a minimum number of Medicare patient visits. Providers who ePrescribe and report it on a Medicare claims form can increase Medicare revenues by 1 percent in 2011 while avoiding payment reductions of 1 percent in 2012 and 1.5 percent in 2013.

“We want to get the word out to as many providers as possible that you need to participate in the eRx program this year in order to avoid Medicare payment reductions in 2012 and 2013,” noted Robin Daigh, Vice President at MD-IT. “We see many physician practices that are aware of the Medicare penalties for EMR use that take effect in 2015, but have no idea that an equivalent payment reduction is in store for 2012 if they don’t use ePrescribing by June 30th of this year.”
